Chairman Brodsky said the next meeting would be on January 28, 2005. The changes to the procedures would be distributed to the members in December for review. Terry Babb reviewed what would be discussed at the next meeting. They would re-review ACE Inhibitors, ACE Inhibitor and Diuretic combinations, ACE Inhibitor and Calcium Channel Blocker combinations, BETA Blockers and the three variations of Calcium Channel Blockers. Terry Babb thanked various drug manufacturers for submitting clinical submissions. In response to Jeffrey Demain, Dave Campana said Medicaid would cover any non-reviewed drugs. Terry Babb reviewed the decisions that had been made by the P&T Committee at this meeting. Leukotriene modifiers would include Accolate and Singular. Urinary Tract Antispasmodics would include Detrol, Detrol LA, Oxybutynin and Oxytrol. Topical Immunomodulators would include Elidel and Protopic. Antiemetics would include Kytril. Proton Pump Inhibitors will be enhanced to include Nexium and Prdvacid without limitations. In response to Sherrie Richey, Terry Babb said any information or concerns should be shared with the P&T Committee to help them make their decisions. He had not been able to find any information that was specific to Zoloft and lactation in the literature he reviewed. Sherrie Richey asked if the state would be asking patients whether or not the preferred drug list has had an impact on their lives and how the changes have effected them medically. Chairman Brodsky said the doctor has the option to write medically necessary for non-preferred medications. Medicaid has financial issues and this program has allowed us to extend drug coverage to the patients. Sherrie Richey said they were trying to serve their patients and needed to know how the preferred drug list was effecting them.

Ndothelin is a recently discovered peptide that is synthesized and released from endothelial cells.12 Endothelin is also produced by other cells, including neurons, glial cells, and epithelial cells.3"7 Endothelin is an extremely potent vasoconstrictor that also appears to have a major influence on renal function.8 The choroid plexus is functionally similar to the kidney with regard to its secretory activity and its role in fluid volume regulation.9 There is a relatively high density of receptors for endothelin in the choroid plexus, 10-11 and we have shown that endothelin produces marked decreases in blood flow to the choroid plexus.12 Because blood flow to the choroid plexus appears to be an important determinant of cerebrospinal fluid CSF ; production, 13 we anticipated that endothelin may decrease the rate of production of CSF. The first goal of this study was to test the hypothesis that endothelin decreases the production of CSF.

We did not identify new direct evidence from observational or experimental studies regarding followup testing or the frequency of screening. Abbott currently trades at 16.6x our 2008 EPS estimate of .25. While considerably more expensive than the industry average of 13.6x, we believe the premium is warranted. Abbott offers potentially the strongest combination of growth and relative risk in all of the large-cap pharma space. Abbott has some very strong business segments and a great late-stage pipeline. Finally, to management s credit, the company has not been associated with many of the issues holding back P E multiples in large-cap pharma such as drug reimportation and product safety and efficacy issues. The acquisition of Guidant s vascular business is a clear positive in our opinion. Eventually, XIENCE should command significant market share in the DES market as well thanks to the recently presented very positive SPIRIT II and III clinical trial data. This, in addition to recent stabilization in PCI procedure trends and further DES penetration should be significant catalysts to drive the vascular business. The recent acquisition of Kos Pharmaceuticals is another sign that Abbott is actively seeking to grow the pharmaceutical business, especially in the area of cardiovascular care. Although investors could argue that the company paid a heavy premium and lofty price tag of .7 billion to acquire Kos, we believe that Abbott will be able to significantly leverage the Niaspan and Simcor compounds with potential combinations with TriCor and AstraZeneca s Crestor to help drive earnings accretion in 2008 and beyond. Finally, the divestiture of the TAP JV sheds Prevacjd which will be faced with severe generic competition and allows Abbott to focus on higher growth businesses including its oncology and lipid platforms. Competitively speaking, Abbott is in a good position. Despite a few challenges ahead, including the impending influx of Depakote generics we feel there s significantly more to look forward to then there is to worry about. Humira will still be a huge driver of growth and we remain excited about the late-stage lineup, of which a number of candidates should make it to market in 2008. As such, we believe Abbott shares will continue to trade at a premium to the broader large-cap pharmaceutical market. Abbott also possesses a lower risk profile than smaller players in the industry. Although the stock remains one of the more expensive names in the large-cap pharma space, we feel it s well deserved. We believe, based on Abbott s very strong line-up of current products, along with its formidable pipeline that there s further room for the multiple to expand. We recommend investors purchase the name for a long-term hold within the pharmaceutical medical sector. Our price target is , or 18.5x 2008 EPS estimate of .25. We think this 18.5x P E ratio 1.6x PE G ; is justified based on the expected superior 11.4% earnings growth rate CAGR ; between 2007 and 2012.

PMPY trend for gastrointestinal drugs dropped significantly in 2003, yet the class managed to maintain second place in terms of PMPY spend. The patent expiration of Prilosec, the subsequent availability of generics and the launch of Prilosec OTC all contributed to this decrease. But other factors came into play as well. Inflation dropped to 4% in 2003, from 8.7% in 2002, as the generic product gained market share but did not increase prices significantly. Utilization growth slowed but still remained in double digits. The different clinical indications for the OTC versus the prescription versions resulted in little conversion of prescription users to OTC. In terms of market share, Prevacld continued to lead branded products, but for the first time in many years generics topped market share at 33.1%. Nexium and Protonix continued to grow from a combined share of only 8.2% in 2001 to a 30.1% share in 2003. As expected, Prilosec's share dropped quickly after generics entered the market, but the overall market share for the omeprazole franchise, brand and generic, also declined -- due to the high cost of omeprazole generics, continued marketing of the brand manufacturers and, to a lesser extent, Prilosec OTC. And they need a referral from the PCP and an auth from the plan. For Novolin pen users, if they were on it before in the history claims, approve it. But for new users, recommend vials. Basis of Presentation The accompanying consolidated nancial statements include the accounts of Andrx and our wholly owned subsidiaries. We have two 50% investments in unconsolidated joint ventures, which do not qualify as variable interest entities under the provisions of the Financial Accounting Standards Board FASB ; Interpretation No. 46, ""Consolidation of Variable Interest Entities'' FIN No. 46 ; , and therefore are accounted for under the equity method in the accompanying consolidated nancial statements. All signicant intercompany transactions and balances have been eliminated in consolidation. Use of Estimates The preparation of nancial statements in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States requires us to make estimates and judgments that aect the reported amounts of assets, liabilities, revenues and expenses, and the related disclosure of contingent assets and liabilities. The most signicant estimates we have made include, but are not limited to, those related to revenue recognition, sales returns and allowances SRAs ; , allowance for doubtful accounts receivable, inventories and cost of goods sold, useful life or impairment of goodwill and other long-lived assets, litigation settlements and related accruals, income taxes, and self insurance programs. The net revenues that we have reported related to collaborative agreements for the sale of certain products are subject to numerous estimates by these other parties, such as returns and other SRAs and certain related expenses see Note 4 ; . We periodically evaluate estimates used in the preparation of the consolidated nancial statements for reasonableness, including estimates provided by third parties. Appropriate adjustments to the estimates will be made prospectively, as necessary, based on such periodic evaluations. We base our estimates on, among other things, currently available information, our historical experience and various assumptions, which together form the basis of making judgments about the carrying values of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. Although we believe that our assumptions are reasonable under the circumstances, estimates would dier if dierent assumptions were utilized and these estimates may prove in the future to have been inaccurate. Cash and Cash Equivalents All highly liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less are considered cash equivalents and are carried at cost. Investments Available-for-Sale We classify our investments as available-for-sale and, accordingly, such investments are carried at market value and any unrealized gain or loss, net of income taxes, is reported in accumulated other comprehensive income as a separate component of stockholders' equity. The cost related to investments available-for-sale is determined utilizing the specic identication method. Accounts Receivable, Net Trade receivables consist of amounts owed to us by our customers on credit sales with terms generally ranging from 30-90 days from date of invoice and are presented net of an allowance for doubtful accounts receivable in the Consolidated Balance Sheets. We maintain an allowance for doubtful accounts receivable for estimated losses resulting from our inability to collect from customers. Accounts receivable generated from our distribution business are generally of relatively small amounts from a large number of customers. Accounts receivable generated from our generic and brand businesses are generally of relatively larger amounts and from a smaller number of customers. In 88.

Fodstad et al.12 had less re-bleedings in their tranexamic acid group than in the control group. There was, however, no difference in mortality between the groups. Girvin13 found no benefits from antifibrinolytic treatment in subarachnoid hemorrhage in a controlled trial. Maurice-Williams14 has recently reported excellent results with prolonged antifibrinolytic treatment of patients with ruptured intracranial arterial aneurysm in a controlled trial. The re-bleeding mortality was 12% in the active treatment group and 40% in the control group. In our trial the re-bleeding mortality was 9.4% both in the tranexamic acid treatment and control groups. Thirty 15 patients in each group ; of our 64 patients had surgery. The surgery took place, on the average, 17 days after the first bleeding in the tranexamic acid treatment group and 18 days after the first bleeding in the control group. Early surgery is not carried out in Finland. Maurice-Williams used the same dosage and mode of administration of tranexamic acid for the first 7 days as we did for 21 days or until operation. Thereafter, his patients were given 1.5 g of tranexamic acid orally every 6 hours for 35 days or until operation. The selection of patients in Maurice-Williams' and in our trial was comparable. The discrepancy between the lack of effect of antifibrinolytic treatment reported here and the encouraging results reported by Maurice-Williams remains to be solved. If the encouraging results of Maurice-Williams could be repeated this certainly would be a great improvement; if the patient is in good condition 7 weeks after a hemorrhage from a single intracranial arterial aneurysm the outcome is good whether or not he is operated on.16 van Rossum et al.16 have reported the only doubleblind study of the effects of tranexamic acid in subarachnoid hemorrhage. They found no favorable effects of this treatment, results which are similar to ours. In their study re-bleeding rates, morbidity and mortality were similar in the active treatment and control groups.18 Tovi8 showed that local fibrinolysis occurred in the cerebrospinal fluid on the third or fourth day after the and ventolin.

Rachel C. Rolph, Amanda F.P. Cheung, Courtney C.J. Voelker, Tom Jessell * and Zoltn Molnr Department of Human Anatomy and Genetics, University of Oxford, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QX * Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Center for Neurobiology and Behavior, Columbia University, 701 West 168th Street, New York, New York 10032, USA. The mammalian cortex contains two types of layer V pyramidal neurons. Type I project to subcortical targets and type II project to the contralateral cortex. Previous work showed that ER81 and N200 are expressed in type I neurons, but to what extent do these two markers overlap? Double-immunostaining for ER81 and N200 of postnatal day 10 rat brain sections revealed only two ER81 positive neurons out of 748 N200 immunoreactive cells examined. None of the 792 ER81 immunoreactive cells were N200 positive in the primary motor, somatosensory and visual cortices. Additionally, we back-filled type I neurons projecting from the spinal cord SpC ; and superior colliculus SC ; , and type II neurons CC ; using Fast Blue or FluoroGold and analysed these for double-immunostaining. We observed that 26.1% 2.8 of layer V neurons with CC projections expressed ER81 and none expressed N200. ER81 was expressed in 20.4% 7.7 of SC projecting neurons and 14.8% 1.3 expressed N200. ER81 was expressed in 10.9% 7.5 of SpC projecting neurons and 24.6% 10.2 expressed N200; the two antigens were never seen colocalised. Our study suggests there are at least two distinct neurochemical subpopulations within the type I subgroup of layer V.

He recession is here, how do you like it? Ya know, the recession we said we were on the verge of for the past year or so? The one everyone ignored or didn't understand so they didn't pay attention when people were talking about it? The one that "snuck up" on us? Gas is over a gallon--A GALLON! A loaf of quality bread is about and Oh my God! Regular sized candy bars are over .00! Now this isn't me writing a nostalgia column. "I remember when candy bars were just 25 cents". OK, I do remember that-- shut up! But a year ago it was 85 cents. It has been for .years! Everything is almost unaffordable--vegetables, meat, dairy is ridiculous. So much for giving your kids a balanced meal. Wait--hold everything--it's not the recession. It's the gas prices. That's right, that's what it's being blamed on. The prices of everything are up because the delivery companies have to pay more for the gas to get them there. So really all this must be blamed on the gas companies. OK.maybe there is some truth in that. A grain or two. But higher gas prices doesn't a recession make. It needs a partner to help out. That partner is a lack of increase in the living wage. Higher prices, no raises.so we find ourself cutting back on all the little extras that we've gotten. 1 . M commitment to sourcing, purchasing and controlling raw materials. FT LEE, VA DeCA is requiring commissaries worldwide to eliminate double bagging unless a customer asks for it. Also, U.S. commissaries must use paper bags everywhere except the express lane, unless customers ask for plastic. Overseas commissaries will continue to use plastic bags. Because of the higher costs of shipping paper, plastic bags are still less expensive overseas. As the price of oil rises, so does the cost of anything that uses oil and it's not just gasoline. Oil is also used in the manufacture of plastic bags, so increases in oil prices translate to higher plastic bag costs, and commissaries need bags for nearly 100 million customer transactions annually. When you have a limited budget, the only way to handle increased costs is to control supplies or cut other costs. Through May, bag costs were being controlled, even reduced, through customers saying `no' to double bagging in commissaries worldwide and `yes' to paper bags in stateside commissaries. Some customers used canvas or mesh bags for their shopping. But as oil prices have continued to climb, the cost of plastic bags has also continued to climb while prices for paper bags have held steady and buy zyloprim.

Store water in plastic containers such as soft drink bottles. Avoid using containers that will decompose or break, such as milk cartons or glass bottles. A normally active person needs to drink at least two quarts of water each day. Hot environments and intense physical activity can double that amount. Children, nursing mothers and ill people will need more.
